Chinensis Birthday – Hunt Slonem

Chinensis Birthday is an original oil painting by Hunt Slonem, presented in a black frame. "Chinensis" is Latin for "of China," a word found in the scientific names of many birds and plants.

Slonem's fast, confident brushwork and thick layers of oil paint stand up from the surface and catch the light, giving the work a vivid, almost tactile presence. At 128 × 100 cm, this is one of the largest works in the collection: a commanding focal point for a living room, dining room, office or lobby. As an original painting, it is entirely one of a kind.
