About:
The eyes of a leopard are unlike any other — deep, thoughtful, and endlessly captivating. To look into them is to feel time stand still, as though you are glimpsing something ancient, profound, and far beyond yourself.
When I photograph animals, I am always drawn to their eyes, but with leopards it is essential. If the eyes are sharp, alive, and emotive, the rest of the image simply falls into place.
On this morning, I followed a young female as she moved gracefully through her territory. After an hour she climbed into the branches of an ebony tree and settled, resting her chin delicately upon her foot. From there she gazed out over the plains, contemplative, almost lost in thought. For a moment I felt like an intruder, as if I was witnessing something private.
But I pressed the shutter, capturing her portrait. The eyes, her expression, her poise — all came together in a frame that remains one of my most cherished leopard images. It is a study in beauty, grace, and the quiet depths that live behind the eyes of a predator.
