FRINGE GAVE UP A CORPORATE SALARY TO PAINT. FOURTEEN SHOWS LATER, NOBODY'S LAUGHING

 

Fringe was born in the late 1970s and spent his early career in the corporate world, in the kind of job with a title, a ladder, and a ceiling. Then he left it, for oil paint and bronze.

That decision has been vindicated by his devoted following and his commercial success. Every solo exhibition Fringe has staged -- from Johannesburg to Vienna, Dubai, to the United States -- has cemented his reputation as a truly unique figure in the world of pop art.

His work spans oil on canvas, and figurative sculpture in bronze, ceramic, and stone. His artwork traverses the edge of deep personal introspection, and fuses commercial iconography with imagery that is unmistakably his.
