In my work, I’m always searching for scale — for images that give context to the grandeur of the natural world. But how do you make the world’s largest land mammal appear small? You place it among the true giants of Africa.

Mana Pools has held me captive for more than a decade. Its towering Albida trees rise like ancient sentinels over the floodplains, sharing this land with elephants who have learned to live in harmony beneath them. Watching an elephant stretch up to feed from their lofty branches is to witness a perfect balance — power and grace meeting patience and reach.

To frame a scene like this is a rare privilege. It speaks to coexistence, to the beauty of scale, and to the timeless relationship between Africa’s greatest giants — the trees and the elephants who depend on them.
