Shattered Heaven
Bart is terrified of money. The picture should make you wonder what had just happened to make him bolt in such childish hysteria. Bart is all of us, the image should remind you that cash is something to be truly terrified of. It’s justifiable.
Money seldom floats from the sky. But it does in comic book stories about Donald Duck's millionaire Uncle Scrooge McDuck, and in the daily life of Richie Rich. There are always green notes that get dislodged and fly around like birds.
Technically, the green of money in comics is sometimes forest green or emerald green, or parakeet or shamrock. Green can symbolize nature, or money -- it can be both sacred and profane
Colour can be a form of terrorism, or part of cultural pride. For the artist it’s all part of the game.
