Owls Train

Owls Trail is an original oil on panel painting by acclaimed American artist Hunt Slonem, measuring 76cm x76cm.

An original painting by acclaimed American artist Hunt Slonem, depicting a pair of great horned owls perched side by side on a branch, surrounded by a dense tangle of painted foliage. Rendered in Slonem’s signature loose, gestural brushwork, the owls’ feathers and eyes are built from rhythmic, calligraphic strokes of black against a saturated yellow ground — a striking departure from his better-known bunny and butterfly motifs, drawing instead on the same nature-driven repetition and intensity of gaze that defines his bird paintings. Presented in a dark bronze carved frame, the work is ready to hang and arrives as a one-of-a-kind original, accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.

Slonem’s bird paintings, inspired by the live aviary he has kept for decades, are held in over 50 museum collections worldwide, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. “Owls Trail” offers collectors a striking example of his work in this celebrated series.
