I found her not far from camp — a young, energetic leopard I’ve followed many times in Mala Mala. She’s one of those cats that keeps you guessing; full of confidence, unpredictable, and capable of anything. Moments like these are why I love photographing leopards — you never know what they’ll do next.

I trailed her as she moved through the bush, clearly hunting. Then suddenly, I lost her. My heart sank. I stopped the vehicle, listening for any clue of her whereabouts — silence. And then, out of nowhere, she appeared to my left, leaping gracefully onto a fallen tree. She walked its length, balanced perfectly, and stopped at the far end to gaze across her domain.

Behind her, the sky had turned dramatic — dark clouds swirling, the kind of atmosphere that makes every frame come alive. It was a scene I had always dreamt of capturing, and as I switched to a wider lens, I knew this was the moment. She stood there — poised, powerful, and wild beyond words.

It’s an image that reminds me why I do what I do. These moments are fleeting, yet they last forever through the lens.
