This is the excessive belief in oneself and one's own importance. This can include arrogance, self-centeredness and vanity. Through his photographs, artist Philippe Shanti associates pride with the importance of physical appearance, as well as with rich and powerful people who seek to display their wealth or social status.
Through his large staging, representing the back of a yacht, the artist presents pride as a feeling of superiority and exaggerated narcissism. The omnipresence of mirrors, repre- sents the culture of self-image, focusing on appearance and popularity.
He also pays homage to John William Waterhouse's 1903 painting echo and narcissus, depicting narcissus, a man of great beauty, who drowned from looking at his reflection too much
