Toyland imagery serves as a reminder that the hard edge of life exists. Sort of like wicked fairytales, we see little playthings as a reflection of the adult world we inhabit. Fringe’s playroom of somewhat abandoned mascots, called Gutinkes, reeks of nostalgia and makes us look for a lurking villain. 

I dream that I am walking in one of my own paintings. It's my Alice in Wonderland moment in which I have the agency to confront my own fictional characters. They don't always love what I put them through, but they realize that they are the reason I wake up in the morning, and they are the reason I am able to sleep at night.

Together we have managed to eat three meals a day, drive to the ocean, fly in an airplane and make some magic in the gallery. Together we have given joy and even discomfort.

Fringe has used imagery from the mass media, from digital media, and from cartoons to movie culture, to produce Fringe paintings on canvas, figurative plastic and bronze sculptures filled with irony and satire.

Fringe’s story is a combination of high output and well-timed solo exhibitions that have launched his signature series’. He has held eight major solos, sold out exhibitions globally. Born in 1976.
