The electric plug sockets in my house are staging a rebellion. I can’t understand why every single socket has its own personality. It’s time that the people of the future designed one junction of plug points for every appliance in one’s life.

The floors are surrounded by cables, and the dust settles in circles where rivers of plastic have formed. I feel the hazardous power circuits damming up in the corners of my existence.

If an alien were to land in my garden he’d have to navigate the route I take to my front door. He would find toy trucks and the dogs’ tennis balls lying where little creatures have given up on having fun.

I’m not sure that the debris of the modern world has anything to offer the coming generations. I doubt the aliens would bother to switch on my television and start up the gaming console. But if they played our games, they’d laugh at how we fail endlessly, without any real reward.
