Occam’s Razor is a principle that says:

“The simplest explanation is usually the right one.”

It’s not about ignoring real complexity—but about choosing the explanation that makes the fewest assumptions. In other words, don’t reach for aliens when a loose wire will do.

A Real-Life Reminder

A few weeks ago, I found myself worrying over something small—a message left unread, a glance misinterpreted, a pause too long. I spiraled into “what ifs” until I stopped, breathed, and remembered: maybe the person was just busy. Maybe the noise upstairs was just the cat.

Occam’s Razor, whispering to me like an old friend: Start simple.

Why I Come back to it 

In parenting, relationships, and even health, I’ve learned that clarity matters. Sometimes we complicate things out of fear, or because we care deeply. That’s human. But simpler doesn’t mean careless—it means kind. It means trusting yourself to pause, breathe, and look for the most likely truth.

It means saying, as I often do now, “Gutinke Meine.”

My good thoughts. My peaceful mindset. A reminder to lead with reason, but soften it with heart.

Occam’s Razor isn’t a rule to live by blindly—but it’s a tool I turn to often. In a world buzzing with distractions and doubt, sometimes the simplest explanation isn’t just right—it’s also the gentlest.
