Art is love made public. I didn’t say that. Someone called Hernando Fuentes said it in a moment of clarity, in the series Sense 8 that you can watch on Netflix if you have a ton of patience. The point is that the opposite also applies. It always does. Art is also ‘love made private’, if you show it to no one. Art is also hate made public, if you use it to destroy your demons. In front of everyone.
Anyway these are the crap answers you get if you’re not quite sure why you make art, and you’re looking for a reason. For some artists, questioning why one creates, is as insane as asking why one has to go to the toilet. Let’s just say art is a bodily function. It’s something we do every day, even though we have to bare ourselves when we do it.
We have to have this moment alone, when we rid ourselves of the stuff we carry around inside of us. Otherwise, how ’s your week going?
